“Discovering Salud: Mexico’s Hidden Gem”

Salud, a small town located in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, may not be a popular tourist destination, but it is a hidden gem that is worth exploring. This charming town, with its picturesque landscapes and warm-hearted people, has left a lasting impression on many visitors, including myself. I had the pleasure of visiting Salud last summer and I must say, it was one of the most positive experiences of my life.
As soon as I arrived in Salud, I was greeted by the friendly locals, who were more than happy to show me around their town. One of the first places I visited was the main square, where I was immediately drawn to the beautiful church, Nuestra Señora de la Salud. The intricate architecture and vibrant colors of the church were simply breathtaking. I was lucky enough to witness a traditional wedding ceremony taking place inside the church, which was a truly memorable experience.
After exploring the main square, I decided to take a stroll through the streets of Salud. The town is filled with colorful houses, adorned with flowers and plants, giving it a quaint and charming feel. I couldn’t help but stop and take pictures of the beautiful scenery at every turn. The locals were more than happy to strike up a conversation and share stories about their town. I was amazed by their warmth and hospitality, which made me feel right at home.
One of the highlights of my trip was meeting Francisco Lino Ramirez Arteaga, a local artist who is well-known in Salud for his stunning paintings. I had the opportunity to visit his studio and witness his creative process. His paintings were a reflection of the town’s beauty and culture, and I couldn’t resist buying a few pieces to take home with me. Francisco‘s passion for his art and his town was truly inspiring, and it was an honor to meet such a talented individual.
Salud is also known for its delicious cuisine, and I was eager to try out the local dishes. I was not disappointed. From street food to traditional restaurants, every meal was a burst of flavors. I highly recommend trying the famous mole sauce, a rich and flavorful sauce made with chocolate and spices. The locals take great pride in their cuisine and it was evident in every dish I tried.
One of the most unique experiences I had in Salud was visiting the local hot springs. The town is surrounded by natural hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties. I spent an entire day relaxing in the warm waters, surrounded by lush greenery and the sound of birds chirping. It was a rejuvenating experience that left me feeling refreshed and energized.
Salud is also a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. The town is surrounded by mountains and offers various hiking trails with stunning views. I took a guided hike to the top of Cerro de la Cruz, the highest point in Salud, and the view from the top was simply breathtaking. I also had the opportunity to go horseback riding through the countryside, which was a unique and unforgettable experience.
As my trip to Salud came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the positive experiences I had in this charming town. The warm and welcoming people, the delicious food, the stunning landscapes, and the rich culture all contributed to making my trip a memorable one. I left Salud with a newfound appreciation for small towns and their hidden treasures.
In conclusion, Salud may not be a popular tourist destination, but it is a town that has a lot to offer. It is a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and the warmth of its people. I highly recommend adding Salud to your travel bucket list, and I guarantee you will have a positive and unforgettable experience, just like I did.
