The Government and Minera Panama have reached an agreement and have accepted the commitment

Minera Panama expresses its optimism that the announcement of an agreement in line with the proposal received from the Panamanian government on January 13 can be made. In a recently issued statement, the company emphasizes that it understands the general terms put forward by the national government and considers an annual minimum contribution of 375 million balboas from the Cobre Panama mine as reasonable.

In this regard, the organization accepts the government’s proposal and requests the necessary safeguards to ensure the continuity of operations during the project’s duration.

Furthermore, Minera Panama underscores its confidence that a mutually agreeable commitment, as outlined in the proposal received from the Panamanian government on January 13, can be announced.

On another note, it is reported that the nation’s president, Laurentino Cortizo, will address the country on January 18 to discuss this matter, according to a statement released by the Presidency of the Republic.
