Australia’s former captain Steve Waugh retired from cricket at the epic Sydney Cricket Stadium in 2004. Waugh received a grand farewell in the fourth Test against India.
Notably, another Australian great David Warner also received his farewell on the same day at the same venue of SCG in PAK vs AUS 3rd Test match on Saturday.

Waugh in his last match scored a crucial 80 runs, playing a significant role in securing the draw and ensuring the series ended in a stalemate.

The Australian legend has played 168 Test matches and amassed 10, 927 runs at an average of 51.06. He secured 32 centuries and 50 fifties in his Test career.
As a captain, Waugh 41 matches out of 57 Test with a win percentage of 71.92.

Waugh’s farewell was nearly overshadowed as Sachin Tendulkar, despite a series of low scores leading up to this match, played a sensational innings, crafting an unforgettable 241 – a personal record at the time.
Partnering with VVS Laxman, the duo scripted history by establishing a monumental fourth-wicket stand of 353 runs, the highest at that time for India. This partnership propelled India to a commanding total of 705 for 7, a record-breaking score for the team. Notably, Laxman notched up his second century of the series during this exceptional partnership.
