Certificate Handover Ceremony for the Cleared Area Along the 400 KV Electricity Transmission Line Between Huambo and Lubango

Today, June 7, 2024, in the province of Huíla, specifically in the city of Lubango, the certificate handover ceremony for the de-mined area along the 400 KV electricity transmission line from Huambo to Lubango took place.

The important ceremony was attended by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Homeland, João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade, as well as the Secretary of State for Energy, Arlindo Carlos, the Vice-Governors of Huíla and Huambo, the representative of the African Development Bank for Angola and São Tomé, several officials from both ministries present, and invited guests.

After the certificate was handed over, Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade, in his remarks to those present, thanked the Ministry of Energy and Water for their efforts which culminated in this act. He also made comments on the overall importance of the event.

In turn, Minister João Baptista Borges began by thanking Minister João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade for his commitment, which led to the success of this ceremony. He also emphasized the importance of de-mining for the implementation of the project.

Continuing, he mentioned that the main goal is to bring more energy capacity to meet the region’s needs. He praised the de-mining work, which is of great importance to the sector and plays a crucial role in the success of various electrification projects in the country.

João Baptista Borges stated that this project, which connects Huambo to Lubango, will create jobs for many young people, a point the minister considers very important.

A symbolic act of delivering a vehicle to the de-mining team on-site was also carried out.

It is worth noting that the construction of the 400 kV electricity transmission line from Huambo to Lubango will consist of two lots, covering a total distance of 343 km.
