Ex-CSK star flags Virat Kohli superstardom roadblock for new RCB captain Rajat Patidar

Former CSK star Robin Uthappa has raised concerns over the challenges that new RCB captain Rajat Patidar may have to face in his journey with the team. Uthappa believes that Patidar, who was recently bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, may have a tough time carving his own identity while overshadowed by the immense stature of current RCB captain Virat Kohli.

The IPL is well known for being a platform that gives budding cricketers the opportunity to showcase their talent and earn a spot in the national team. However, with the tag of being one of the most prestigious leagues in the world, it comes with its own set of challenges. One such challenge is the pressure of playing alongside some of the biggest names in the cricketing world.

Over the years, RCB has been a team that boasts of having some of the most renowned and accomplished players, including the likes of AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, and of course, Virat Kohli. The team has always been considered as one of the strongest teams in the league, but unfortunately, they have not been able to lift the coveted trophy yet.

Amidst this, the arrival of Rajat Patidar in the RCB squad has created quite a buzz. The 27-year-old, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, had a phenomenal run in the domestic circuit and impressed many with his strong batting skills. However, with the star-studded RCB team, Patidar’s journey may not be an easy one.

Speaking about the challenges that Patidar might face, Robin Uthappa said, “It’s always a challenge when you are playing alongside players like Kohli and de Villiers. They have such a huge fan following and are considered as superstars in the league. It can be overwhelming for a young player like Patidar to step into their shadows and make a name for himself.”

Uthappa went on to add, “Kohli’s superstar status is undeniable, and he is not only a great batsman but also an exceptional leader. However, it can also be a roadblock for someone trying to establish themselves in the team. The focus is always on him, and it can be tough for others to get noticed.”

Despite the challenges, Uthappa is optimistic about Patidar’s potential and believes that he has what it takes to make an impact in the RCB team. “Patidar is a talented player, and I have no doubt that he will work hard and make a name for himself in the team. He has shown his capabilities in the domestic circuit, and I am sure he will continue to do so in the IPL as well.”

Taking over as captain of RCB after Kohli’s resignation, Patidar has the added pressure of leading a star-studded team and living up to the expectations of the fans. However, Uthappa urges the fans to not put too much pressure on the young captain and give him the time to find his own rhythm.

“Patidar has a golden opportunity to showcase his talent on a big platform like the IPL. As fans, we should support him and give him the time and space to find his feet in the team. After all, it is never easy to replace someone like Kohli, and it would be unfair to compare them. Let us give him a chance to shine and make a name for himself,” Uthappa said.

As the IPL 2021 season approaches, all eyes will be on Rajat Patidar and his performance for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. With the right attitude and determination, Patidar can overcome the challenges and make a mark in the team, and possibly even pave his way to the Indian national team. The RCB fans can only hope that Patidar will bring the much-awaited glory to the team and create his own legacy, one that is not overshadowed by anyone else.
