At the exclusive Enero Costanera in Buenos Aires, with the presence of Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, alongside Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis—this season’s additions—the Ellerstina Yellow Rose team was unveiled for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The participants showcased the new official team shirt and discussed their expectations for the year. “We’re eager to start playing with this new team. We hope to kick off in the best way possible and aim to go as far as we can,” mentioned Gonzalo Pieres during the event attended by various prominent figures.
This season, the renowned Ellerstina team, known for winning numerous championships, including multiple editions of the Argentine Polo Open, is backed by Yellow Rose, a polo club founded in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. Rodríguez, along with his partner Vero Lozano, was among the celebrities present at the event.
Yellow Rose continues to support the growth of the international polo community, both in Argentina and Uruguay. Since 2021, it has established its polo organization in Argentina and formed an alliance with Ellerstina—a young, dynamic team with potential, enthusiasm, and strong organizational support that contributes to the players’ growth and future prospects. Despite the absence of Facundo Pieres, who opted to join the La Natividad quartet this season, the team comprises Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Pressis, reaching a combined handicap of 35 goals.
Expectations are at their peak as the team prepares for the Argentine Triple Crown, featuring the most prestigious tournaments globally, including the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and the Argentine Open Polo Championship.
Ellerstina received support from its sponsors in this presentation: Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS. Additionally, they enjoy the backing of AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
Beyond its success in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is distinguished for its social commitment and support for equestrian sports. The charity events it organizes, combining high-handicap polo with music and solidarity, attract renowned polo players and raise funds for social causes. Notable polo players in Argentina, including Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Pablo Llorente, among others, have participated.
In 2021, the club hosted an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together the world’s best polo players for a meeting to benefit the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires province. Yellow Rose’s social commitment is also evident through its collaborative efforts with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Rodríguez, where it is based, promoting a free training program for individuals over 16 years old in digital trades such as Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce, and Digital Programming.
The 2023 season marks a significant milestone for the club as it becomes the title sponsor of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, emphasizing the shared values of family, friendship, and sport promoted by Yellow Rose.
