At the exclusive Enero Costanera in the city of Buenos Aires, Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, along with Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis, the new additions for this season, unveiled the Ellerstina Yellow Rose team for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The players showcased the new official team jersey and discussed their expectations for the year. Gonzalo Pieres expressed, “We are eager to kick off the season with this new team. We hope to start strong and aim for success throughout the season,” during the event attended by various notable figures.
This season, the renowned Ellerstina team, with numerous championships, including multiple editions of the Argentine Polo Open, enjoys the support of Yellow Rose, a polo club founded in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. Rodriguez, along with his partner Vero Lozano, was present at the event, among other celebrities.
Yellow Rose continues to contribute to the growth of the international polo scene, with headquarters in both Argentina and Uruguay. Since 2021, it has expanded its polo organization in Argentina and formed an alliance with Ellerstina, a young and vibrant team with great potential, enthusiasm, and strong organizational support that aids in the players’ growth and future prospects. The team, without Facundo Pieres, who opted to join the La Natividad quartet this season, consists of Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Plessis, reaching a handicap of 35 goals. Expectations are high for the Argentine Triple Crown, comprising prestigious tournaments such as the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and the Argentine Open Polo Championship.
Ellerstina’s sponsors for this presentation include Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS, along with the support of AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
In addition to its success in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is known for its social commitment and support of equestrian sports. The club organizes traditional charity events that combine high-handicap polo with music and solidarity, attracting renowned polo players and raising funds for social causes. Notable polo players in Argentina, including Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Pablo Llorente, among others, have participated in these events.
In 2021, the club hosted an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together the best polo players in the world to benefit the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires province. Yellow Rose’s social commitment is also evident through its collaboration with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Rodríguez, where it is based. The club promotes a free training program for individuals over 16 years of age in digital trades, such as Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce, and Digital Programming. The 2023 season is a significant milestone for the club as it assumes the title sponsorship of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, emphasizing the shared values of family, friendship, and sport promoted by Yellow Rose.
